Join local author Jose Mendez at Stowmarket Library for a special Author Talk exploring the inspiration behind his debut novel, The Curse of Bacchus.

Part of this story was written in Stowmarket's cafés, library and everyday spaces that invite reflection and creativity.

The novel connects wine, history and myth in a contemporary narrative that asks what happens when the ancient god Bacchus feels betrayed by humanity.

The session will include:

  • A short talk about the origins of the story
  • Reflections on wine as part of cultural history
  • Q&A with the author
  • Book signing

This event forms part of the National Year of Reading 2026 and celebrates local creativity and storytelling.
